John Richards wins Watkins Glen Trucks. Chris Melton claims the championship.



John Richards won at Watkins Glen on Sunday 05/24 in the NSR Early Birds Summer Series.

The trucks were finally on a road course. Watkins Glen was not going to disappoint anyone. This was a 60 minutes timed race that ended up being 48 laps. Rob Cobb took the pole. After a very clean start by all drivers the race progressed with our pole sitter leading every lap until disaster struck as he ran unexpectedly out of fuel before the first pit stop. The battle went on and Chris Melton led a bunch of laps until his crew chief called him in the pits and made a discussable decision. This gave the lead to John Richards that would eventually see the checkered first, followed by Chris Melton in second, Rob Partridge in third, Patrick Rawicz in fourth and rounding up the top five Dean Geer. It was a fun and rapid pace race. Great job by all drivers. Next week we'll be at Bristol.
