Steve Deyo wins in tight finish at Talladega Cup

Steve Deyo won at Talladega on Saturday 01/23 in the SFL Full Length 1x Series.

Today was race 1 or 4 in the Sim Factory Leagues Full Length Series chase. 30 drivers took the green flag. We had our first caution about 9 laps in, and it started to look like it might be a very long race. However, after everyone pitted and got refocused, we went on a 90 lap green flag run with which included 2 green flag pit stops. On lap 99, there was a single car spin which saw the field tightened back up. there was about 10 wave around cars. We then went on a 46 lap green flag run which saw another green flag pit stop. On lap 149 we saw our final caution when 2 cars got together on the front stretch. We restarted the race with 37 laps to go, but that but us in a predicament. The cars only held about 34 laps of fuel, putting us about 3 laps short. A group of 5 drivers decided to short pit on lap 160 taking a quick splash of fuel, while the rest of the field decided to wait until lap 183. The 2 groups met again on lap 184 with the first group edging out in front. It ended up a 4 lap battle between Steve Deyo, Paul Hahn, Rob Partridge, March Cohn, Dan Pearl, and Dale Reynolds. Deyo barley edged out Hahn by 0.013 of a second, and Reynolds finished the race sliding backwards. All in all it was a great race, with only 3 cautions. Round 2 of the chase will be the Texas 500.
