Chris Melton wins a close one at Texas Cup. John Richards claims the championship. Chris Melton won at Texas on Wednesday 03/25 in the NSR Insomniacs Series. Not a bad race at all considering we had 7 cautions. Most of them were caused by new drivers and it is understandable. Rob Partridge took the pole. After a very good start by all drivers, we ran green for a nice stretch. With 5 to go the caution flag flew putting us in GWC mode. At the end of the night, Chris Melton would hoist the trophy, followed by Rob Partridge, John Richards, John Vine and Brian Kenney rounding up the top five. All the three grooves were raceable on this track and we saw quite a bit of side by side racing. The top groove was the most favored one by the drivers as it was the fastest. Goody's Headache Award goes to Pete Rawicz that had a car literally land on his roof and hood making his vehicle drive at the pace of a farm tractor for the rest of the night. Setup was fast and very stable but you had to take care of the tire wear that was perfectly matched with the fuel run. See you all next week at Daytona.

Floyd Broadley makes a late pass to win Chicago Trucks. John Richards claims the championship. Floyd Broadley won at Chicago on Sunday 03/22 in the NSR Early Birds Winter Series. Did we ever have a good time at Chicagoland! A super setup and tons of side by side and three wide racing. Steve Young took the pole. Race was punctuated by only four cautions and they sort of seemed to always come out at the right time if there's such a thing. The last restart with 10 laps to go was just totally insane and all drivers did a super job running as hard as they could but with a lot of panache and car control. The race finished with Floyd Broadley passing Dean Geer with one lap to go, finishing third John Gallagher, fourth John Richards and taking the top five Rob Cobb. There were incredible battles thorough out the field for a 100 laps. Super commendations to all drivers. Our Goody's Headache Award goes to Steve Young and Paul Hahn this week that were running side by side when a car that was below the withe line did not see them and sent them both into oblivion. There was no time to take the slightest break through this race. Most drivers managed this pack racing very well. For the fourth race of the chase, we are next week at the mud slinging capital that is Eldora. Catch you then.
